El truquito de hoy: MISTERIOSÍSIMA ADIVINACIÓN DE UNA CARTA ESCOGIDA CON TOTAL Y ABSOLUTA LIBERTAD (SUPONIENDO QUE SE PUEDA LLAMAR LIBERTAD A ESTA COMPLACIENTE MODORRA ADOCENADA QUE VIVIMOS EN LAS SOCIEDADES DEL CAPITALISMO TARDÍO) DE ENTRE LAS CINCUENTA Y DOS CARTAS DE LA BARAJA, CADA UNA DE SU PADRE Y DE SU MADRE
Efecto: Un espectador elige libremente una carta y la devuelve a la baraja, que se mezcla a conciencia. A pesar de todo el mago va y la adivina, a mala leche.
Realización: El secreto, uno de los más básicos del ilusionismo, radica en un principio al que podrás sacar enorme partido mágico una vez domines unos pocos métodos. La idea es esta: aunque el espectador cree estar escogiendo libremente una carta cualquiera, en realidad toma la que TÚ quieres. ¿Y cómo se consigue esto, con lo cabezota que es la gente? Con sutiles técnicas psicológicas.
El método más común es el siguiente: abres la baraja en abanico y haces que la carta que quieres que escojan sobresalga ligeramente del resto (Figura 1). 9 de cada 10 espectadores elegirán esa y no otra, aunque sólo sea por evitar que les saltes un ojo con una esquina de la carta.
Puedes aumentar también las posibilidades de que escojan la carta que quieres reduciendo el total de naipes en la baraja (Fig. 2). Un detalle fundamental de psicología mágica: para desviar la atención del espectador del secreto, cuando des a elegir no digas “Coge una carta”, sino “Escoge libremente la que prefieras de entre las 52 cartas de la baraja, cada una de su padre y de su madre”.
(Nota: si estás usando una baraja española, no vayas a decir “las 52 cartas de la baraja”, porque el público NO ES TAN TONTO, y podría pensar: “Un momento… pero si la baraja española sólo tiene 40 cartas, cada una de su padre y de su madre… ¡me están engañando! ¡Dios misericordioso!… ¿Es que no queda decencia en el mundo desde que murió Chanquete?”).
Otro método sutil consiste en hacer atractiva para el espectador la carta que quieres que escoja, de modo que no pueda resistir el impulso de retirarla del abanico (Fig. 3).
Combinando unos métodos y otros puedes vencer la voluntad del espectador más duro de mollera. Y si falla todo lo demás, ten presente cuál es el principio: hay que conseguir, de forma discreta e imperceptible, que el espectador llegue POR SÍ MISMO a la conclusión de que le conviene escoger ESA carta (Fig. 4).
Con semejante filosofía, el triunfo artístico está asegurado: el público nunca sabrá cómo adivinaste la carta.
NOTA 1: Señalan algunos autores (de dudoso prestigio) que conviene mirar y memorizar la carta que vas a hacer que escojan antes de empezar el juego. No les hagas caso. ¿A eso le llaman “adivinar una carta”? ¡Pues vaya una birria de magia! Si ya sabes cuál es antes de que la cojan… ¿dónde está el mérito? ¿No se supone que tienes poderes sobrenaturales, hombre?
