Habría que preguntarle cuántos años lleva iluminando con su chiste diario las páginas del IDEAL de Granada, pero se nos ha olvidado hacerlo. Como también se nos ha olvidado pedirle que nos mande el curriculum para ver por escrito nombres históricos como PUEBLO o LA CODORNIZ por los que se ha paseado la firma de este dibujante. Qué más da, a los Irreverendos no nos interesa su trayectoria -¡que la tiene, y bien larga!- sino sus chistes, su humor y su amistad. Don Guillermo, muchas gracias por asomarse por aquí…

- Sí, pero probablemente saldrá malo de humor.
- Elija entre sentido del humor o sentido común
- Elegir “entre”, no. Si se elige uno, siempre arrastra consigo al otro. Y viceversa. (Viceversa en una palabra fea de verdad pero enormemente resumidora). Yo creo que hacer humor lleva implícita casi siempre una gran dosis de sentido común porque, si no, puede ocurrir que no llegue a entenderlo nadie, incluido el autor. Si bien es verdad que la falta de sentido común también puede llevar, como así fue en “La Codorniz”, al humor del absurdo: “-Yo me llamo Edmigio ¿Y usted? -Yo no”
- Hay humor de todos los colores: humor negro, blanco, verde, marrón… Comente algo del humor naranja.
- Lo siento, no puedo hacer ningún comentario. Ese humor debe ser de los valencianos y yo soy granaíno.
- Descríbase a si mismo de una forma humorística
- Así a bote pronto y basándome en primer lugar en el punto de vista físico no muestro ningún signo exterior que lleve a la convicción de que soy un humorista, y mucho menos un humorista gráfico. Por dos razones: Porque no tengo ni idea de cómo ha de ser físicamente un humorista y en segundo lugar porque creo que exactamente doy el pego contrario, es decir de un tío más serio que un guarda civil de servicio. Desde el prisma de lo espirituoso sí creo que soy rápido en la apreciación del sesgo humorístico que puedan tener las situaciones que se me presentan, lo que se refleja en la realización de mis dibujos. Observa que no he mencionado la palabra inspiración porque creo que es un atributo que no habita en mi mollera. Resumo: Soy un humorista moderado-costumbrista-algo mordaz
(toma castañas).
- Si usted no fuese humorista hubiese sido (elija una opción) sexador de pollos, abogado, funcionario, periodista
- Soy abogado, he sido funcionario y soy periodista. Sólo queda sexador de pollos. Eso que lo sean los putos pollos.
- Cuente brevemente una anécdota de su profesión de dibujante de humor
- No voy a caer en el lugar común de que “dada mi larga trayectoria como humoristas he protagonizado numerosas anécdotas…”, no, por la sencilla razón de que no he tenido muchas. Por eso me es fácil traer una a colación (¡qué facilidad de expresión, coño). Resulta que mis primeros dibujos presentados a la consideración del director del diario “Patria” de Granada no los presenté yo personalmente, sino que, por pura timidez, lo hizo un buen amigo y compañero de estudios -ya desaparecido- de acuerdo conmigo, claro, y usurpando mi personalidad. La cosa iba saliendo bien hasta que mi padre, que conocía al redactor jefe, supo que ya había presentado mis dibujos. El mundo se me vino encima porque el “pastel” estaba a punto de descubrirse y había que deshacer el entuerto. Conté la verdad a mi padre, reprimenda y malísimo rato al presentarme ante el director para hacerlo. Menos mal que el director ya estaba en antecedentes a través del redactor jefe. Y a que los dibujos gustaron. Y me decía mi gran amigo: “Guillermo, ¿qué voy a hacer si al director se le ocurre que haga un garabato delante de él?”, porque yo no he visto alguien más negado para el dibujo que él. La cosa, afortunadamente, quedó en nada. Ahora si te digo que sigo siendo un gran tímido ¿te lo vas a creer?
- Si se encontrase a Dios por la calle ¿qué le diría?
- No le diría nada. Él lo sabe todo. Por lo tanto, siempre sabría lo que querría decirle sin decírselo.
- ¿La mezcla perfecta para el mundo sería humor y amor? Opínemelo
- Te lo opino. Las mezclas nunca son perfectas. Si fueran mezclas perfectas ya serían un todo igual. Pero un mundo con humor, amor y punto sería, al menos, todo lo contrario de “Un mundo feliz” de Aldous Huxley.
- Escriba la pregunta que esperaba que le hiciera
- Como las balas. Lo hago a través de este ordenador que es lo que tengo ahora más a mano: escriba la pregunta que esperaba que le hiciera. ¿Correcto? Pues adiós.
Penitencia. Este dibujo fue publicado el 16 de noviembre de 1974 en el diario vespertino madrileño “Pueblo”, en una sección titulado “La Jaula”. Fue denunciado por la fiscalía calificándolo de delito de “escarnio contra la Religión Católica”. Se celebró el consecuente juicio en Madrid, por fuero del periódico, y afortunadamente el fallo “sólo” fue declarar el hecho como falta con pena de cinco días de arresto menor, multa de dos mil pesetas y costas.
Como chiste de actualidad que era, el dibujo hacía alusión a la posibilidad que en aquellos momentos estudiaba la Iglesia Católica de otorgar a sus sacerdotes la facultad de administrar el Sacramento de la Penitencia a más de individualmente, colectivamente, además de imponer penitencias fáciles de cumplir a todos los reunidos. Y eso fue todo.
